History of City Hall

This is the Lynott House prior to demolition in September of 1966. (Lynott House, about 1880) Where the current City Hall building currently sits today.

Construction was completed and the building was occupied on July, 1967.

Missouri Edison Company owned and operated this building for many decades.

The building was purchased from Missouri Edison Company and sometime after the purchase, it was established as the The Louisiana Municipal Building on August 1st, 1999. A commemorative plaque can be seen on the front of the building.

Many improvements have been made to the building over the years, but one of the most notable is the new Council Chambers with expanded occupany, new flooring, and a sound system. This new Council Chambers is in Dedication and recognition of Miryah Polston who was the City Clerk. Special thanks to Tim & Sandy Carter.
